Appropriations Conference Report Combines
Mil Con-VA and Labor-HHS-Education

Today, Congressional appropriations leaders announced they will bring to the House and Senate an appropriations conference report that combines the Mil Con-VA (H.R. 2642) and Labor-HHS-Education (H.R. 3043) appropriations bills. (Obey Release)

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) offered a motion to de-couple the two bills, but it failed 9-8. Yesterday, President Bush threatened to veto a combination of the Mil Con-VA, Labor- HHS, and Defense bills, which Democrats had previously been considering.
